Review creator content: drafts before posting, posts before they count

Approve or send back creators' drafts before they post, and approve or reject posts before they count toward goals and payouts.

A campaign can put two checks on creator content. They are independent: turn on either, both, or neither.

  • Draft review: an approved creator sends you a video before posting it. You approve it, or send it back with notes and they upload a new version.
  • Post review: a creator's posted TikTok content waits for your approval before it counts toward goals and payouts.

Both are in the campaign editor under Who can join → Content review.

Draft review

Turn on Review drafts before creators post. Approved participants can then send a video from My Content in the creator app (web or mobile) to your campaign, with an optional note.

Review a draft

Drafts waiting for you appear in Campaigns → Reviews, oldest first. A banner on the Campaigns page says how many are waiting. A campaign with draft review on also shows a Draft reviews card that opens just that campaign's drafts.

Open a draft to:

  • Watch it. If your browser can't play the file (some iPhone recordings), use Download.
  • Comment. Leave Pin to the current time in the video checked to attach a comment to the moment you paused on. Clicking a pinned comment jumps the video there.
  • Decide.
    • Approve tells the creator the draft is good to post.
    • Request changes sends it back. It needs a note, so the creator knows what to change.

Each time the creator sends a new version it becomes a new round. Earlier rounds stay one click away, so you can compare cuts. Only the latest round, while it is waiting, can be decided.

The creator gets a push notification and a card in your direct-message thread for every decision. You see a card when they send a draft, send a new version, or withdraw one.

What draft approval does and doesn't do

Approving a draft is advisory. It doesn't make the eventual TikTok post count by itself. The post is still tracked and checked like any other campaign content, and if post review is on, it still waits in your post queue.

Post review

Turn on Posts need my approval before they count. From then on, every new post on the campaign waits in Pending review, whether it was found automatically or submitted as a link. That includes videos and photo carousels; LIVEs aren't reviewed, and Commission Boost campaigns don't offer post review. Posts already counted before you turned review on aren't affected.

A pending post doesn't count toward goals, tiers, leaderboards, or payouts until you approve it.

Auto-approve

Choose Auto-approve after a number of days (7 by default), or Never.

  • With a number of days, a post you haven't decided on is approved automatically after that many days. Posts still pending when the campaign is ending are also approved automatically, so nothing is left out when payouts are calculated. That happens on the last day before the campaign stops tracking, or once its posting deadline has passed.
  • With Never, posts you haven't decided on stay excluded.

Posts that don't feature the campaign's products are disqualified automatically, as they always are, and never reach your queue.

Approve or reject posts

When posts are waiting, the campaign page shows a posts are waiting for your review banner and a count on the Videos (or Slideshows) tab. Click Review, or use the Pending review chip under the Campaign Videos table, to list only the waiting posts, oldest first.

Each waiting post shows when it was added and, if auto-approve is on, when it will approve itself. Then:

  • Approve: the post counts from now on. Progress updates right away; GMV updates on the next sync.
  • Reject: the post doesn't count. You can notify the creator by SMS, email, or chat, with a message you can edit, or reject without notifying.

Select several posts to Approve selected or Reject selected at once.

Outside the queue, the Review column shows each post's outcome: Approved by brand, Auto-approved, or Rejected. You can still change your mind with the usual disqualify and re-qualify buttons.

A post can't be approved or rejected once the creator has been paid for that period, or once the campaign has ended. The buttons are disabled with the reason. Retainers are the exception: an unpaid period of an ended retainer can still be changed.

Turning post review off

If posts are still waiting when you switch review off, Cruva asks what to do with them:

  • Approve all approves every waiting post now.
  • Leave pending keeps them waiting. With review off nothing approves them automatically, so decide on each one from the campaign's posts.

What creators see

  • A pending post shows Awaiting brand review on the creator's campaign page. A rejected post shows Not approved.
  • Creators submitting a link to a campaign with post review on are told it counts once the brand approves it.
  • For drafts, the creator's History for a video shows every round, your notes and comments, and lets them upload and send a new version.

Meta programs

A Meta program can review uploaded videos the same way: turn on Review uploads before they're added in the program's settings. There, approving is not just feedback: it adds the video to the program's content. See Meta ads programs.
