Meta Ads, Spark codes & usage rights
Collect Spark codes, request usage rights with a paid offer, and push licensed creator videos to Meta Ads.
For brands turning organic creator content into paid ads — on TikTok (Spark) and on Meta.
The three pieces
- Spark codes promote a creator's existing TikTok video as a paid TikTok ad (their handle stays on it). Used for TikTok Spark Ads and GMV Max.
- Usage rights are a paid licensing offer you send a creator so you can reuse their video in your own ads.
- Meta Ads is where licensed videos get pushed once usage rights are active.
Collecting Spark codes
Spark codes live at Dashboard → Ads → Spark Ads (/dashboard/ads/spark). A code is generated by the creator on their TikTok account and shared with you.
Ways to collect them:
- Automated DM scraping — toggle Scrape DMs on the Spark page so Cruva pulls codes creators send you in TikTok DMs.
- A dedicated automation — click Create automation on the Spark page to launch a DM campaign that asks creators for their code (a template message is pre-filled).
- CSV upload — bulk-import codes you already have.
You can filter by handle, filter by post date and date shared, and export to CSV. Each code shows its authorization period, GMV, views, CTR, ad spend, and ROI.
Once you have codes, you can push those videos into GMV Max — select them and click Authorize Videos. See the GMV Max & TikTok Ads guide. This requires the TikTok Ads API connected.
"Spark codes not appearing / no checkmark"? Confirm the creator actually generated and shared a code, that DM scraping is on if you're relying on it, and that your date filters aren't hiding them. Authorized videos show a green check.
Requesting usage rights (and where payment happens)
Usage rights let you license a creator's video for your own ads. This is a Scale-plan feature and needs your TikTok connection active.
Send an offer
1. Go to Dashboard → Videos, open a creator's video, and choose Request usage rights (you can add up to 50 of that creator's videos to one offer).
2. Set the terms: duration (a number of months, or indefinite), a flat fee, and how many days the offer stays open.
3. Pick delivery — TikTok DM or SMS (SMS only if the creator has a number on file and both consents are in place).
4. Edit the message. A template is provided with [fee_amount], [duration], and [offer_link] placeholders that fill in automatically. Send.
The creator accepts
The creator opens their offer link (creators.cruva.com/usage/<id>) and accepts the terms. This acceptance is the agreement — the fee, duration, and video list they agree to act as the templated contract. Track every offer at Dashboard → Usage Rights by status: Requested, Pending Payment, Active, Expired, Rejected.
Where you pay
Payment comes out of your Cruva Community balance (wallet), not a per-transaction card charge. When an offer reaches Pending Payment, open it and click Pay. If your balance is below the fee you'll be blocked until you top up. You can optionally send the creator an SMS confirming the payment.
Connecting Meta and pushing videos
Connect Meta
Go to Dashboard → Connections (/dashboard/integrations) → Meta → Connect, and authorize through Facebook. Then:
- Select an ad account — if Meta returns more than one, pick which one to use (Cruva can pull the list for you).
- Select a Facebook Page (optional) so Cruva can show Page audience alongside ad performance.
Meta Ads is live. If your token expires, the card shows a Reconnect button.
Push a licensed video and find it in Meta
1. Once usage rights are Active, go to Dashboard → Ads → Licensed Content (your content library) and push the video to Meta.
2. In Meta, the video lands in your Ad Account → Media → Library. From there you build your Meta ad around it as normal.
Common problems
"I pushed a video to Meta but can't find it." Look in Meta under Ad Account → Media → Library, not in a specific campaign. Cruva uploads the video to your ad account's media library; you attach it to a campaign yourself.
"Usage Rights & Meta connection — I can't see it." Usage Rights requires the Scale plan and an active TikTok connection. Without both, the page is locked.
"Meta share link / connection not working." Reconnect Meta from Connections. If you were connecting on behalf of a client, make sure the ad account and Page are selected after authorizing.
"Where do pushed videos live before Meta?" In Ads → Licensed Content (only videos with active usage rights can be pushed).
