Contests, Leaderboards & Creator Campaigns

Create contest, leaderboard, bingo, and sweepstakes campaigns — and understand exactly what counts toward them.

For brand and agency operators running paid creator campaigns in Creator Community.

The short version

Creator Community campaigns reward creators for posting. You pick a campaign type, set the window and prizes, choose which products are in scope, and Cruva tracks qualifying videos automatically. A campaign only ever counts activity that happens during the campaign window and promotes a product you included in the campaign.

Find campaigns under Dashboard → Creator Community → Campaigns (/dashboard/community/campaigns). Click Create to start a new one.

Campaign types

There are six types. The four most asked about:

  • Contest — How a winner is decided: You review entries and pick winners manually. Tiers set prize amounts/items per place. · Best for: Judgment calls — best edit, best storytelling, on-brand creative.
  • Leaderboard — How a winner is decided: Creators are ranked automatically by a metric (GMV, number of posts, or views). Top tiers get paid. · Best for: Measurable competition across the whole window.
  • Bingo — How a winner is decided: A 3x3 or 4x4 grid of condition cells; a creator completes a line to win. · Best for: Getting creators to cover multiple products or content angles.
  • Sweepstakes — How a winner is decided: Creators earn points per action (per GMV dollar, per view, or per post). One winner is drawn at the end. · Best for: Broad participation with one big prize.

The other two: Retainer (fixed payout per qualifying video, capped by budget; can recur weekly/monthly) and Race (first creator to hit a threshold wins, first-come-first-served by post time).

Create any campaign

1. Go to Creator Community → Campaigns → Create.

2. Pick the campaign type.

3. Set title, description, start and end dates, and budget (optional).

4. Choose payout type (cash or prize) and, for cash, a payout method (PayPal or Stripe). Prize-only campaigns use none. See Creator payouts & adding funds.

5. Select the products in scope (or include all shop products). This matters — see "What counts" below.

6. For leaderboards, set a content type (video or LIVE) and a progress metric — GMV, posting, or views. For races, set the per-post value basis (per video, per view, or per LIVE) — races don't use a GMV metric.

7. Add guidelines, usage rights, and branding, then launch.

What counts toward a campaign

A video is counted only if all of these are true:

  • It was posted during the campaign window (plus the grace period, default 3 days after the end date). Videos posted before the campaign started never count.
  • It promotes a product that is in the campaign's product list. A video promoting a product you didn't add to the campaign will not count — even if the creator is a top performer.
  • The metrics have finished syncing from TikTok (see below).

GMV thresholds count only in-window GMV. A leaderboard's Minimum GMV Threshold is the GMV a creator must generate during the campaign timeframe to qualify — it is not their rolling 30-day GMV or any pre-existing total.

Why my creators' videos aren't counting yet

Usually one of these, in order of likelihood:

1. Sync timing. Videos and metrics sync from TikTok into Cruva roughly every 2–5 hours, so new posts and their GMV appear after that lag, not instantly.

2. Wrong product. The video promotes a product that isn't in your campaign. Edit the campaign to add that product ID; new activity will attach after the next sync.

3. Outside the window. The post predates the campaign start, or falls after the end date and grace period.

Leaderboard ranking basis

  • Ranking uses the metric you chose: GMV, posting count, views, or LIVE duration.
  • For a views leaderboard, the ranking is the sum of views across all of that creator's videos in the campaign — not the views of a single best video.

Changing dates and settings

Edit a live campaign from Campaigns → [your campaign] → Edit (/dashboard/community/campaigns/edit). You can change the end date, adjust products, and update tiers. After editing products, wait for the next sync (~3 hours) for newly eligible videos to attach.

Common questions

Contest vs leaderboard? Contest = you judge and pick winners manually. Leaderboard = Cruva ranks automatically by a metric.

Does a sweepstakes count LIVE sessions or only videos? It counts whatever your point rules cover (GMV, views, or posts). If you want LIVE GMV to count, set the campaign up accordingly.

Can a creator win a Bingo campaign more than once?

A creator posted 5 videos but only 4 show. Check the missing video's product — if it promotes a product outside your campaign list, it won't count. Also allow for sync lag.

Can I raise the posting limit (creators say they can only post 3/day)?

Can I cap what one creator earns? Races support a max payout per creator (and, for views races, a cap on views counted per video).
