Excluding Creators from Outreach
Ways to Exclude Affiliates from Outreach in Cruva
Overview
There are plenty of reasons you might not want to message certain affiliates in your outreach campaigns. Maybe you want to skip anyone above a certain GMV, exclude a specific list of creators, or avoid overlap with other automations. Cruva gives you several ways to control exactly who gets excluded, and this article walks through each of them.
The Creator Blacklist
The most common exclusion method is the creator blacklist. It can be accessed from two places; the first is Outreach > Automations. Click the gear icon at the top of the page, then click "Exclude Affiliates."
Here, you can upload a CSV list of affiliate handles. Once uploaded, those creators will be excluded from all outreach via Cruva. The blacklist applies to every campaign and only needs to be set up once.
To manage the list:
- Click the Clear All button to wipe the blacklist entirely.
- Select the checkboxes to the left of individual affiliates to remove them one by one.
Note: The checkboxes sometimes cause confusion — they're only there for deleting creators from the list. If a creator is showing on the blacklist, they will be excluded. You don't need to check any boxes for the exclusion to work.
Exclusions Within Each Campaign
At the top of Step #2 in each campaign, you'll see an "Exclude Affiliates" button. This gives you four options:
Blacklist — The same blacklist described above. It can also be managed from here, and it applies to all campaigns.
CRM Groups — Exclude creators who belong to specific CRM groups. See our article on CRM groups [here].
Lists — Exclude creators from a specific list under Outreach > Lists. See our article on lists [here].
Campaigns — Exclude creators who were already sent messages from other campaigns. This is especially useful if you want to launch multiple campaigns and keep them mutually exclusive.
Skip Creators Already Messaged
At the top of the page, you'll also find the "Skip creators already messaged by other campaigns" toggle. This avoids messaging any creator who has been contacted in the past by any Cruva campaign, or where we've detected existing messages between your brand and the creator.
Keep in mind this is typically an aggressive option and can lead to very few results.
Checking Your Remaining Audience
At the bottom of the page, you'll see a Creators matched: N counter. This shows how many creators remain as you apply filters and exclusions, so you can quickly tell if you've excluded too many.
