Creator L tiers
What the L levels mean, exactly where the cutoffs sit, and how to filter for them anywhere in Cruva.
The Short Answer
Everywhere you see a creator's tier in Cruva — L1 through L7 — it's shorthand for one number: the creator's 30-day affiliate GMV, their total sales over the last 30 days across every brand they promote on TikTok Shop, not just yours. A higher tier simply means the creator is currently moving more volume platform-wide.
The L1–L7 system isn't a Cruva invention — it's TikTok's own creator tiering, and Cruva surfaces it so the tiers you see here match the ones used across TikTok Shop.
There's no separate "tier" filter to hunt for. Because a tier is just a GMV bracket, you filter by tier by setting a minimum (and optionally maximum) 30-day affiliate GMV wherever GMV filters exist — in outreach targeting, and in your CRM's affiliate performance filters.
The Tier Breakdown
Each tier corresponds to a bracket of 30-day affiliate GMV:
- L1 — $0 to $5,000
- L2 — $5,000 to $25,000
- L3 — $25,000 to $60,000
- L4 — $60,000 to $150,000
- L5 — $150,001 to $400,000
- L6 — $400,001 to $1,500,000
- L7 — $1,500,001 and up
So an "L3 creator" is anyone who has generated between $25k and $60k in total TikTok Shop sales, across all brands, in the last 30 days.
The One Distinction That Matters
Tiers are based on affiliate GMV, not shop GMV — and mixing these up is the most common source of confusion:
- Affiliate GMV (what tiers measure): the creator's platform-wide sales across every shop they work with, over the last 30 days. This sizes the creator's overall TikTok Shop business.
- Shop GMV (not what tiers measure): the sales the creator has generated for your shop specifically.
A creator can be L6 while having sold $0 for you — that just means they're a proven seller you haven't converted yet. In fact, that exact combination (high tier + zero shop GMV) is one of the most valuable searches in the product: it's your list of top prospects.
Two Things That Follow From the Definition
Tiers are rolling. Because the window is the last 30 days, a creator's tier isn't a permanent rank — it reflects their current momentum. A creator who was L5 during a viral month can be L2 the next. That's a feature: a high tier means the creator is selling right now, not that they sold well once.
Tiers are brand-agnostic. A creator's tier looks the same no matter which shop is viewing them, because it's built entirely from platform-wide data.
How to Filter by Tier
Tiers aren't a standalone filter — you translate the tier you want into a 30-day affiliate GMV range:
- In outreach: set the minimum (and, for a bounded range, maximum) 30-day GMV in your targeting. For example, "L3+" is simply a minimum 30d GMV of $25,000.
- In your CRM: apply the same range under the affiliate performance filters (the 30d Affiliate GMV filter).
Some worked translations:
- "L3 and up" → minimum 30d affiliate GMV of $25,000, no maximum.
- "L5 and up" → minimum of $150,001, no maximum.
- "L3 to L5" → minimum of $25,000, maximum of $400,000.
- "Exactly L4" → minimum of $60,000, maximum of $150,000.
- "Up to L2" → maximum of $25,000, no minimum.
For quick reference, the tier floors are: L1 = $0, L2 = $5,000, L3 = $25,000, L4 = $60,000, L5 = $150,001, L6 = $400,001, L7 = $1,500,001.
Using Tiers Well
Match your tier target to your goal, not your ego. L6–L7 creators move enormous volume, but they're also the most pursued and the most expensive to win. Many brands get their best return in the L2–L4 range: proven sellers with real momentum who still answer their DMs.
Pair tier with shop GMV for prospecting. "High tier + $0 shop GMV" finds proven sellers who haven't worked with you yet — the classic talent-scout search. Add a post-rate filter and an email requirement and you have an outreach list worth sending samples to.
Use tier ranges, not just floors, for tailored messaging. An L2 creator and an L6 creator shouldn't get the same pitch. Segmenting outreach by tier band lets you offer starter collabs to rising creators and retainer or campaign deals to the heavy hitters.
Remember the window when reading results. If a creator you know is big shows up as L1, they may simply have had a quiet month — the tier reflects the last 30 days, not lifetime performance.
FAQ
Did Cruva make up these tiers? No — L1–L7 is TikTok's own creator tiering system. Cruva displays the same tiers TikTok Shop uses, so an L4 in Cruva is an L4 everywhere.
Is a creator's tier based on what they've sold for my shop? No — it's their platform-wide sales across all brands in the last 30 days. Your relationship with them doesn't affect their tier at all.
Can a creator's tier change? Yes, constantly. It's a rolling 30-day measure, so tiers rise and fall with the creator's recent performance.
Is there a dedicated "tier" filter? No — a tier is just a named GMV bracket. Set the 30-day affiliate GMV range that matches the tier(s) you want, in outreach targeting or in your CRM's affiliate performance filters.
What does the boundary belong to? The published brackets place the cutoff values ($5k, $25k, $60k, $150k...) at the top of the lower tier for L1–L4, while L5, L6, and L7 start one dollar above their lower neighbor's cap ($150,001, $400,001, $1,500,001). In practice, filtering with the floors listed above gives you the intended tier.
