Target Collab Cleanup
For anyone whose outreach has stopped entirely because their store is clogged with old Target Collab invites.
The short answer
TikTok Shop caps how many Target Collabs a store can have active at once — most stores are limited to 1,000 total. Once you hit that cap, you're effectively in invite jail: no new invites can go out until space frees up. Old invites do expire on their own, so the count slowly decreases over time, but waiting is slow and deleting them manually is tedious.
Target Collab Cleanup (Outreach → Automations → TC Invite Cleanup) bulk-removes stale, unaccepted invites in one run, freeing up space so your outreach can keep flowing.
Why this matters
A few numbers to know:
- Most stores: 1,000 active Target Collabs total. Some brands have this limit lifted — up to 10,000.
- Each Target Collab invite can include up to 50 creators. Some brands have this raised to 100.
- Invites expire, so your active count drifts down over time on its own — but usually not fast enough to keep up with active outreach.
When your store is at or near the limit:
- New invites fail. You can't send any more Target Collabs until the count drops.
- Outreach messages can fail. A store bloated with old invites is a common cause of failed messages in your automations.
- Your automations pause. When a store hits the invite limit, Cruva automatically pauses its automations and surfaces a banner on the Outreach Automations page: "Your store is at its maximum invite limit." Running the cleanup (or resuming an automation once space is free) lifts this message.
How to run it
Go to Outreach → Automations → TC Invite Cleanup.
Click Run TC Invite Cleanup.
A popup appears with the cleanup options (explained below). Configure and confirm.
The run can take a few minutes to a while, depending on how many invites your store has. While the cleanup is running, no other automations will send.
When it finishes, the popup's Invite Cleanup Logs section lists everyone who was removed from an invite, so you have a full record of the run.
What the default cleanup does
The standard (safe) behavior:
- Deletes any Target Collab where zero creators accepted. These invites are pure dead weight.
- Within invites that have some acceptances, removes the creators who never accepted. The accepted creators stay untouched, and the removed creators are freed up to be invited again later.
In short: accepted creators are always preserved by default; only unaccepted invitations are cleared.
Cleanup options
Clean up invites older than X days (default: 7)
Only invites older than the threshold are touched. This protects your recent outreach — if you just sent a wave of invites and cleared them immediately, those creators would lose the ability to accept and request samples. Leave a buffer (7 days is a sensible default) so fresh invites get a fair chance to convert.
Clear invites even if creators accepted
Some shops end up in a frustrating spot: nearly every invite has 1 or 2 acceptances, so the default cleanup can't delete them — and you're still stuck at 1,000 invites with a couple of accepted creators in each. This checkbox is for that situation.
When enabled, an acceptance alone is no longer enough to preserve a creator's spot — only creators who accepted and posted content (a video or a LIVE) are preserved. Everyone else is cleared, which finally frees up those nearly-empty invites.
⚠️ Use with care. Clearing an invite where a creator has accepted can change their commission, remove them from your showcase and content, or lead to other unexpected behavior. Weigh this before enabling.
Clear invites even if creators posted
The most aggressive option: clears invites regardless of acceptance or posted content. This option is currently disabled in the platform due to the risks it carries.
Which setting should I use?
- Default run (no checkboxes): Start here. For most stores, clearing zero-acceptance invites and unaccepted creators frees plenty of space with no risk to active relationships.
- "Clear invites even if creators accepted": Use when a default run barely moves your invite count because most invites have a stray acceptance or two. Understand the commission/showcase risks first.
- "Clear invites even if creators posted": Not currently available.
Common problems
"My automations stopped and I see 'Your store is at its maximum invite limit.'" Your store hit its Target Collab cap and Cruva paused your automations. Run TC Invite Cleanup to free up space, then resume your automations — either action clears the banner.
"My outreach messages keep failing." A store at or near its invite limit is one of the most common causes. Run a cleanup and retry.
"I ran the cleanup but my invite count barely dropped." Your invites likely each have a small number of accepted creators, which the default cleanup preserves. Consider the "Clear invites even if creators accepted" option — after reading the risks above.
"Will cleaned-up creators be lost forever?" No — removing an unaccepted creator from an invite frees them to be invited again. Check the Invite Cleanup Logs in the popup for a full list of who was removed in each run.
"Can I raise my limits instead?" Some brands have the 50-creators-per-invite limit lifted to 100, and the 1,000 active invite cap lifted as high as 10,000. These are TikTok Shop-side limits, not Cruva settings.
