Tag Manager: static tags, dynamic tags, and tagging a list

Everything the Tag Manager page does: browse every tag and who carries it, create dynamic tags that follow a group, tag a whole list or CSV of handles at once, rename, merge, and delete tags, and where tags can be used across Cruva.

Tags are free-form labels you put on creators in your CRM ("VIP", "do-not-contact", "spring-launch"). They show up as chips on the My Affiliates table and on each creator's profile, and you can filter, segment, target, and exclude by them across Cruva.

Tag Manager (Dashboard → Affiliate CRM → Tag Manager) is the one place to see every tag your shop has, how many creators carry each one, who exactly those creators are, and to create, rename, merge, and delete tags in bulk. It's also where you create dynamic tags that apply themselves from a group, and where you tag a whole list of creators in one go.

Tags are per shop. A tag you create in one shop doesn't exist in your other shops. (Agency users also see a separate "tag" feature that colour-labels shops in the agency overview; that's unrelated to creator tags.)

Static tags vs dynamic tags

Every tag in Cruva is one of two kinds. Tag Manager lists them in separate, collapsible Dynamic and Static sections in its left sidebar, each with a count.

Static tagDynamic tag
What it isA plain label you (or an automation) put on specific creatorsA tag that follows a group: whoever matches the group's rules gets the tag automatically
How creators get itAdded by hand, in bulk, from a list or CSV, by a workflow step, by Copilot, or via the APICruva applies it to everyone matching the group, and re-checks on every group refresh
How creators lose itOnly when someone removes itDepends on the mode: sync removes it when the creator stops matching, additive never removes it

Remove from a subset of creatorsYes: select rows and removeNo: membership is decided by the group, so change the group instead

A tag is "dynamic" purely because a dynamic-tag definition exists for that name. There is no separate tag object for static tags: giving a creator a new name creates the tag, and a static tag whose last creator loses it disappears from the list.

Tag names are case-sensitive. VIP and vip are two different tags. Keep names short: the Tag Manager dialogs allow up to 40 characters, and the quick-add box in My Affiliates allows 25.

The Tag Manager page

  • Search tags… filters both sections by name as you type.
  • Create dynamic tag opens the dynamic-tag dialog (see below).
  • Tag a list opens the tag-a-list dialog (see below).
  • Dynamic (n) and Static (n) are collapsible sections. Each row shows the tag name, how many affiliates carry it, and its type badge. Click a row to open it.

If the shop has no tags at all, the sidebar says so and points you to My Affiliates to tag someone, or to the Create dynamic tag button.

Tag detail (right side)

Selecting a tag shows a header and a table of every creator carrying it.

Header

  • The tag name and its Static / Dynamic badge.
  • The number of affiliates with the tag.
  • For dynamic tags: the group it follows and its mode, shown as Synced with group or Added once, kept forever.
  • For static tags: a pencil icon to rename inline (press Enter to save, Escape to cancel).
  • For dynamic tags: an Edit button that opens the same dialog used to create it.
  • Delete tag for both kinds (see Deleting a tag below).

Affiliate table

This is the same table you use in My Affiliates, filtered to creators carrying this tag. It has the same columns (status, product info, sampled products, shop / video / LIVE GMV, commission, 30-day affiliate GMV, followers, post rate, videos, LIVEs, showcasing, and so on), the same sorting, page sizes, and pagination, and the same row actions: click a creator to open their profile slide-over, or use the contact action to see their email and phone.

For static tags the table also has row checkboxes. Select any rows and a bar appears with Remove tag from N, which removes the tag from just those creators and leaves everyone else alone. Dynamic tags don't offer this, because the group decides who carries the tag and a manual removal would be undone on the next refresh.

Creating static tags

Static tags are created wherever you apply them; Tag Manager itself only creates static tags through Tag a list. Every route below ends up with the same kind of tag, visible in Tag Manager immediately.

  • One creator at a time. In My Affiliates, click the Add Tags chip in a creator's Tags column (or open the creator's profile slide-over) to get the Manage Tags dialog. Pick an existing tag from the dropdown, or type a new name and click Add. Click the × on a chip to remove that tag from this creator.
  • Selected creators. Tick rows in My Affiliates and use Tag in the bulk-actions bar to apply one tag to all selected creators.
  • Everyone matching your current filters. Click Tag All in My Affiliates. It applies the tag to every creator matching the filters currently set on the table (not just the visible page). The same dialog contains Remove Tag, which strips a tag from every creator carrying it.
  • A CSV of handles (My Affiliates). Use the Bulk tag upload link in My Affiliates to upload a CSV with one TikTok handle per row. Only handles that are already in your CRM get tagged; unmatched handles are reported in the result.
  • A saved list or CSV (Tag Manager). Use Tag a list, described next. Unlike the My Affiliates upload, this adds creators to your CRM if they aren't there yet.
  • From a workflow. Add a Tag creator action step to a workflow. Every creator who reaches that step is tagged. A creator not yet in your CRM is added first, exactly like tagging from a list. See Workflows.
  • Through Copilot or the API. Ask Copilot to tag creators ("Tag my top 20 affiliates by GMV in the last 30 days as top performer"), or use the Tags endpoints of the public API. See What you can ask Copilot and API & MCP.

Tagging a list (Tag Manager → Tag a list)

Tag a list applies one tag to a whole set of creators in one action. It's a one-time, point-in-time assignment: it does not keep watching the list, so creators you add to the list later are not tagged automatically. If you want the tag to keep tracking membership, use a dynamic tag instead.

  1. Enter the tag name. Use an existing name to add these creators to that tag, or a new name to create it.
  2. Choose who to tag:
    • Select a list searches your saved lists and shows each list's affiliate count. Any list you can see is a valid source, including lists another shop in your organisation has shared with you. Every creator in the list is tagged.
    • Upload a CSV takes a file with one TikTok handle per row (a leading @ is fine). The handles are tagged directly; the CSV is not saved as a list.
  3. Click Tag list (or Tag creators for a CSV).

What happens to each handle:

  • Already in your CRM: tagged.
  • Not in your CRM but a known TikTok Shop creator in your shop's region: added to your CRM with a minimal record, then tagged. The confirmation tells you how many new creators were added.
  • Not found anywhere: counted as unmatched and skipped.

Handles are matched case-insensitively, and duplicates within the list or file are collapsed. The tag is applied in your shop's region, so a list of creators from another market may come back mostly unmatched.

Dynamic tags

A dynamic tag is a tag that follows a group. You pick a group, and Cruva keeps the tag on whoever matches that group's rules, with no manual tagging.

Creating one (Tag Manager → Create dynamic tag)

  1. Tag name. Must be unique among your shop's dynamic tags. If a static tag with the same name already exists, the dynamic definition takes over that name (see Mixing manual tagging with a dynamic tag below).
  2. Group. Search and pick any group in this shop. The New group link opens the group builder in a new tab if you need to build one first, using any of the group filters.
  3. How should it behave?
    • Keep the tag in sync with the group (sync mode, the default). Creators are tagged while they match the group, and the tag is removed the moment they stop matching. The tag is always an exact mirror of the group.
    • Tag once and never remove (additive mode). The tag is added the first time a creator matches and then stays on them permanently, even if they stop matching later. Use this to record "has ever been in this state", for example ever reached $1k GMV or ever went overdue on a sample.

Cruva applies the tag to the group's current members as soon as you save, so the tag is populated immediately.

How it stays up to date

Groups are re-evaluated on every CRM refresh, which runs roughly every 2 to 5 hours per shop. Each time a group refreshes, its dynamic tag is recomputed:

  • Sync mode: creators who now match get the tag; anyone carrying the tag who no longer matches loses it.
  • Additive mode: creators who now match get the tag; nobody loses it.

Two consequences worth knowing:

  • Point one dynamic tag at each group. If two dynamic tags reference the same group, only one of them is kept up to date on the periodic refresh. Create a second group (it can have identical rules) if you need a second tag.
  • Group edits flow through. Changing the group's rules changes who carries the tag on the next refresh (and immediately if you re-save the dynamic tag).

Mixing manual tagging with a dynamic tag

You can still add a dynamic tag's name to a creator by hand, but in sync mode that's temporary: if the creator doesn't match the group, the tag is removed on the next refresh. In additive mode a manually added tag stays, because additive tags are never removed automatically. If you need "the group, plus a few hand-picked extras" permanently, use additive mode or add the extras to the group's rules (for example with a static tag and an Include Tags condition).

Editing a dynamic tag

Click Edit on the tag. You can change all three settings:

  • Rename. The new name is carried over to every creator currently holding the tag, and it must not clash with another dynamic tag.
  • Change the group. The tag is re-applied against the new group straight away. In sync mode, creators who don't match the new group lose the tag; in additive mode, they keep it.
  • Switch mode. Switching from sync to additive freezes the current members in place and only adds from then on. Switching from additive to sync removes the tag from anyone who no longer matches the group at the next evaluation.

Renaming and merging static tags

Click the pencil next to a static tag's name, type the new name, and press Enter. The rename applies to every creator carrying the tag; there is no need to re-tag anyone.

If the new name already exists, the two tags are merged: every creator ends up with the surviving name, and the old name disappears. This is the way to clean up near-duplicates such as VIP, vip, and V.I.P..

Renaming a static tag to the name of an existing dynamic tag merges it into that dynamic tag, which means in sync mode the non-matching creators will be dropped on the next refresh.

Deleting a tag

Delete tag in the header removes the tag from every creator at once. The confirmation shows how many creators are affected. This can't be undone, but the creators themselves are not affected in any other way.

  • For a static tag: the tag is removed from all creators and vanishes from the list. To remove it from only some creators, select rows in the table instead and use Remove tag from N.
  • For a dynamic tag: the dynamic definition is deleted and the tag is cleared from every creator it was applied to, in both sync and additive modes. Deleting the underlying group does not delete the tag; delete the tag from Tag Manager.

You can also remove a tag from all creators from My Affiliates via Tag All → Remove Tag.

Where you can use tags

Once a creator carries a tag, you can act on it in most of Cruva:

  • My Affiliates filters: Include Tags (creator has at least one of the selected tags) and Exclude Tags (creator has none of them). Tag All and the bulk-actions bar then let you re-tag or export exactly that segment.
  • Group rules: the same Include Tags / Exclude Tags conditions, so a tag can become a group, which can then drive automations, workflows, and dynamic tags. See every group filter explained.
  • Outreach automations, workflows, and email campaigns: target a group built from a tag, or keep tagged creators out with an Exclude Tags condition on the group. A do-not-contact static tag excluded from every outreach group is the simplest global blacklist. See Excluding creators from outreach.
  • Sample Requests: filter the request list by the creator's tags, for example to approve a trusted tag's requests first.
  • Message Center: filter conversations by the creator's tags.
  • Creator profiles and Similar Creators: tags appear on the profile slide-over and as a column and filter in Similar Creators.
  • Exports and time-range reports: affiliate exports and the time-range views accept include / exclude tag filters (capped at 10,000 tagged creators per filter).
  • Copilot and the API: list a shop's tags with counts, look up one creator's tags, tag and untag creators.

Common patterns

  • VIP tier that maintains itself. Group: Shop GMV over $5,000. Dynamic tag VIP, sync mode. Creators join and leave the tier automatically, and any group, automation, or filter keyed to the tag follows.
  • "Has ever…" history. Group: Sample status is Overdue. Dynamic tag has-gone-overdue, additive mode. The tag stays even after the creator finally posts, so you can spot repeat offenders later.
  • Campaign cohort. Build a list from AI Search or a CSV, then Tag a list with spring-launch. Filter My Affiliates by that tag later to see how the cohort performed, and make it a group if you want to message them.
  • Global do-not-contact. Tag creators do-not-contact by hand or from a CSV, and add an Exclude Tags: do-not-contact condition to every outreach group.

FAQ

Why does a creator I tagged by hand keep losing the tag? The name belongs to a dynamic tag in sync mode and the creator doesn't match its group. Switch the tag to additive mode, tag them with a different static name, or adjust the group.

Why did the count next to a dynamic tag change without anyone touching it? That's expected: dynamic tags are recomputed on each group refresh as creators start or stop matching.

I tagged a list but some creators are missing. Handles that couldn't be matched to a TikTok Shop creator in your shop's region are skipped and reported as unmatched. Check the handles for typos and make sure they're from the same market as the shop.

Can I convert a static tag into a dynamic one? Create a dynamic tag with the same name and pick a group. The existing manual assignments merge into it; in sync mode, creators who don't match the group are dropped on the next refresh.

Are tags shared between shops or with my agency? No. Tags belong to one shop. Shared lists can be used as a source in Tag a list, but the resulting tags land in the shop you're working in.
